How to Prevent and Treat Diaper Rash

Diaper Rash Treatment

What Causes Diaper Rash?

Diaper rash begins when trapped moisture and friction begin to irritate the skin.

No matter how well you care for your little one,
this red, often painful inflammation will most
likely occur at one time or another up to an
average of six times during baby’s diaper years.
Diaper rash can appear on baby’s skin as mild
redness or bumps while more severe cases can
result in raw skin, blisters or other sores.

Skin compromised by diaper rash is more
prone to infection. Diaper rash results from
prolonged contact with urine or stool.Trapped
moisture and friction can also irritate the skin.
Once the skin is damaged, further irritation

can be caused from chemicals in baby’s
successive urination or bowel movements

A number of other causes - like diarrhea
resulting from babies starting solid food, or
taking antibiotics - may result in babies being
especially susceptible to developing diaper rash.
Diaper rash may also be common among babies
who attend day care and may not always have

timely diaper changes
